My grandma last name was : Leerkamp from Suddendorf , Germany

Her Father name was Hermann Leerkamp 02-03-1877 and he married
Mother Ebba Escherhausen ( Ufen ) 04-01-1895 .

Hermann immigrated to the U.S. in Sept 15 , 1903 at Ellis Island . ( He was 27 years old at the time )

New to Genealogy

Hi,
My name is George and I have just started to research my family tree. My family was in Ireland in the early 19th century. They came to Canada in the 1820's.

I don't know much more about the early days in Canada, except that they were hardworking farmers in central Ontario.

I'm looking forward to learning more about their lives and times and even tracing the family back to Ireland and their lives there.

Family Ancestors - Discover Your Birthright

Your family ancestors left you their name and more importantly your heritage. When you trace your family's tree you undertake the challenge to discover the many generations of families that preceded you. Finding the names in your family trees and their stories can be a real maze. How do you keep track of each ancestor you uncover and recognize which ones lead to brick walls (dead ends)? Like any voyage of discovery, the challenge can be intimidating and sometimes very frustrating. Taking the time to properly trace your ancestry can be difficult.

My family tree - Searching For Your Ancestors Can Be A Fun and Challenging Hobby

Researching my family tree is a challenging and rewarding hobby. The opportunity to uncover priceless history of my families is one I'm glad I didn't pass up. Genealogy is challenging because most of the ancestor information that is collected has been lost and forgotten. To uncover my family trees, my ancestry, provides a true link with the past and the heritage that my ancestors passed to me. To find the stories I searched for each detail of my ancestry from books, newspapers, archives and census reports from a variety of regions and other countries.

Where do I start to conduct a family tree search?

Starting my family tree search was very daunting at first. There were so many places that I might find out about my ancestors and their history. I searched through books, libraries, free genealogy websites and family members in my initial investigations. I started with the easiest sources included books, Family Bibles, scrapbooks that my family already had. I spoke with my parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles to uncover all of the treasures that they held.

Family Trees - Researching Them Can Be Interesting and Challenging

I have found that researching family trees can be an interesting and challenging hobby. There are so many interesting avenues that I have followed to uncover priceless family history that will enrich my family for years to come. Genealogy is a challenging hobby because most of the roots information that I have collected was lost in the past.
