January 29, 2007 By: Richard Kearns Ancestry - Make It Your LegacyI have had a great time researching my family's ancestry and it has helped me recognize the great heritage that my ancestors left for me. You can see that too! Your family's history has all sorts of courageous and hard working ancestors that made the life you lead possible. Future generations will cherish the family tree that you uncover and the important stories about their roots that you find. Genealogy is a tremendous hobby for many people. Tracing each ancestor from generation to generation helps us identify who we are. Some families search for their heritage as a group, while others work alone. Whether they work together or alone the stories and heritage that they discover will help to strengthen the family and provides the legacy for future generations. Some families have traced their roots all the way back to the middle ages. Others, have only been able to trace their tree back in history to a time when the family landed in North America. Start by searching through a treasured scrapbook or the family Bible from your Grandmother's living room bookcase. The names and stories that it provides can reveal many new avenues for you to continue your research. Pay attention to the details and keep meticulous notes. Make sure you protect these books because they provide valuable testaments to your roots that have been preserved for many generations. Try to uncover the family stories and get a sense of what life was like for each generation that you discover. Check out Family Name Origin - A Clue To Your Heritage and other links on this website to find other genealogy sources that you can use to help trace each ancestor and record their stories. When you uncover the stories of the hardships that famine, wars and religious persecution brought to your ancestry be sure to document them so that your children and their children will be able to glimpse into your family's history and bring it into perspective. Imagine the feeling that you can have when your genealogy research uncovers a powerful story of an ancestor and traces their roots to important events in history. Passing your family tree on to future generations can be very rewarding. Sometimes, even more rewarding than the satisfaction you got collecting and documenting your genealogy tree in the first place. For more information, visit Family History.About
