Family History - Yours To Discover

Family history presents twists and turns that you could never imagine. Families go their separate ways only to drift back together again later. Searching for your ancestors' story and their heritage is a very rewarding hobby. However, that doesn't mean that finding your ancestry and their stories will be easy. Amateur genealogists run into dead ends regularly. Fortunately, there are tools to trace your ancestor and tell the story that was hidden for years.

Researching your family stories has never been easier. Much of your history search has already been found...and even stored online. Just starting out, talk to as many relatives as you can. If that's done it is necessary to get creative. Research your family tree at the library and online. See if there are books and articles written about your ancestors and their journeys. Search through scrapbooks and Family Bibles to see if an ancestor was buried within their pages. Check out Family Name Origin - A Clue To Your Heritage and other links on this website to find other family tree sources to help you trace your ancestry and record their story.

Once you have collected this history and uncovered your heritage, be sure to display them in charts and books that can be easily distributed. Pass these books on to others in your family. Any one of these stories may help others recall another ancestor's story that will help you understand their lives and appreciate the heritage that they left you. Passing your ancestry on to future generations is more rewarding than collecting and documenting it in the first place. Ancestors and their stories may bring your family closer together, and more importantly, bring the past alive for many future generations.
